Abstract

The Systems Integration for Manufacturing Applications (SIMA) Program is NIST''s coordinating focus for manufacturing efforts sponsored under the U.S. government''s High Performance Computing and Communications intitiative. Initiated in 1994, the SIMA Program includes projects from all of NIST''s laboratories covering a broad spectrum of engineering and manufacturing domains. SIMA projects are addressing manufacturing systems integration problems through applications of information technologies and development of standards-based solutions. This report provides an overview of the Program''s Fiscal Year 1996 activities as well as individual project summaries and accomplishments.
