Abstract

Testing methods need to establish reliable performance data for laboratory water closet extraction tests with mixed media solid waste(s) standard materials are discussed. Reproducible evaluations are essential to standard pass/fail acceptance criteria for acceptance of national standards requirements based on statistical reliability for replication. Test media reproducible material property requirements must be assured for statistical confidence in data measurements include uniformity with dimensional tolerances. Research in direct real drainage investigations showed varieties of mixed media in actual discharges but differ in male and female waste compositions due to different products used and disposable seat covers and other medical hygienic wastes confound the issue. Replicate test results with statistical justification for application to acceptance/failure performance criteria are discussed for solids extraction acceptance criteria in test standards with mixed solids. The method requires a broad test data basis for standard deviation value determination and examples illustrate standard deviations (sigma) for applications criteria which allow limited solids partial extration(s) in pass/fail acceptance criteria.
