Smoke Movement Through a Suspended Ceiling System.

Abstract

A series of full-scale tests were conducted to evaluate smoke movement through a suspended ceiling and into an interstitial space of a hospital type facility. A test facility specifically constructed for this project is described. The test series consisted of one smoke candle test and 12 fire tests including both smoldering and flaming fires. Smoke movement through the suspended ce iling systems was evaluated in terms of the total smoke movement thgrough the test facility. The effects of ventialation and smoke exhaust on smoke concentration in the test facility were investigated.
