Abstract

The goal of the 1997 ASHRAE/NIST Refrigerants Conference was to review available air-conditioning and refrigeration options in response to ozone depletion, global warming, and technology advances. The two-day program consisted of 16 invited comprehensive presentations. The topics discussed included contemporary and future fluorochemicals, natural fluids including hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, air, and secondary loop systems using ammonia and other chemicals. The report provides a brief summary of the issues discussed during the meeting.
