Abstract

The CHARIOT Challenge launched in early 2020 with a focus on bringing the internet of things (IOT) sensors from personal area networks, smart buildings, and smart cities to the hands of public safety using augmented reality. Contestants worked on parallel tracks with a focus on creating IOT sensor emulators supporting four large scale incidents or creating augmented reality prototypes that could assist first responders and incident commanders in working through those incidents. This presentation provides and overview of the challenge design, update on where contestants are, and a look ahead at the final phases of the challenge.
