Abstract

Standard Reference Material 3278 Tocopherols in Edible Oils has been issued for use as an analytical control material and method development tool for the measurement of tocopherols. Four tocopherol isoforms were determined by three independent liquid chromatography methods with absorbance and fluorescence detection. Because most edible oils consist of one predominant isoform, the SRM is a blend of oils to provide roughly comparable chromatographic peak heights of the three main tocopherols – delta, gamma, and alpha.
