Abstract

Transient four wave mixing experiments on a dense potassium vapor with a dephasing time large compared to the collision duration reveal a clear transition from non-Markovian to Markovian dynamics. Theoretical fits using a Gaussian Markov stochastic modulation for the excited state frequency reveal distinct signatures of both fast and slow modulation.
