Abstract

NIST23, also known as REFPROP (REference FLuid Properties), is a computer program for the calculation of thermodynamic and transport properties of fluid mixtures. This newest release, v8, greatly expands the range of fluids covered and has many improvements over version7. The program provides many thermodynamic properties such as PVT relationships, enthalpy, entropy, sound speed, heat capacity and transport properties such as viscosity and thermal conductivity, and can perform VLE calculations. It has an easy to use graphical interface so that the user can easily generate charts or plots, including TS and PH diagrams. Both pure fluids and mixtures are covered, with a special emphasis on refrigerants, cryogens, air, and natural gas mixtures.
