Abstract

This document describes the plan for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Information Access Division (IAD) Data Science Evaluation (DSE) Series Evaluation to be held starting July 2018 (Tentative). The DSE consists of a series of challenge problems and data set pairs that serve as inputs to participants' system. This evaluation constitutes a significant departure from the domain-specific Pre-Pilot and Pilot evaluations run in 2015 and 2016, with a new emphasis on knowledge sharing across domains that supports crosscollaboration for data science researchers and supports methodologies and solutions to data-science problems across multiple disciplines and domains.
