Abstract

We demonstrate a one-pot polyol strategy for the synthesis of Au - Cu perfect nanocubes. To the best of the authors knowledge, this represents the first-time production of Au - Cu bimetallic nanocubes. By carefully adjusting the reaction parameters, not only the edge lengths of the resulting nanocubes can be controlled through 3.5 nm, 5 nm, 23 nm, 45 nm, and 85 nm, but also the composition can be varied from AuCu3 to Au3Cu. In general, this polyol synthetic strategy provides an alternative method for the realization of monodisperse nanocrystals with unusual shapes, sizes and compositions.
