Abstract
In order to better understand the solidification paths of transitional reaction, Scheil modeling and metallographic observation were completed for alloys in the Bi-Pb-Sn system. Microstructural analyses of solidification sequences were compared to Scheil calculations and are in qualitative agreement. Descriptions of the solidification microstructures are presented as well as a comparison of the different versions of the ternary phase diagrams that exist in the literature.
