Abstract

This notice restates the interpretation of the international System of Units [SI] for the United States by the Department of Commerce. This interpretation was last published by the Department of Commerce in the Federal Register in December 20, 1990 [55 FR 552242-52245]. Since the publication of this notice, the international bodies that are responsible for the SI have made some changes to it. It has therefore become necessary to set forth a new interpretation of the SI for the United States that reflects these changes.
