Abstract

We demonstrate a significant improvement in signal-to-noise ratio recovered from coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) spectroscopy/microscopy, using two tightly synchronized picosecond Ti: sapphire lasers. A temporal jitter between the pulse trains form the two independent commercial lasers is reduced from a few ps to 21 fs, observed over several hours. We present detailed statistical analysis along with enhanced CARS vibrational images of living cells and polymer beads.
