Abstract

Standards and conformity assessment practices can have a major impact on competitiveness and ease of access to the international market. Even if companies are not currently exporting products, they are likely to experience the impact of standards on their company through the treaty obligations to adopt international standards. Examples of the ramification of developing infrastructures in other countries in both standards and product certification requirements are described.
