Abstract

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, Gaithersburg, MD) and The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL, Washington, DC) jointly hosted a workshop entitled Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) Technological Barriers: Research Needs and Opportunities. The Workshop was held on May 12-13, 1998, at the Holiday Inn Arlington at Ballston, VA. The purpose of this workshop was to examine technological barriers that may be limiting the wider application of PLD, particularly with respect to research needs and opportunities in support of commercial utilization. Leading representatives from industry, federally funded laboratories, government research-directing agencies, and academia were present to discuss techniques, problems, and future directions of PLD.
