The electromagnetics of light transmission through subwavelength slits in metallic films

Abstract

We show, by numerically calculating the relevant electromagnetic fields and charge current densities, how light transmission through single wsubwavelength apertures and through periodic aperture arrays in a real metal film is governed by local charges and currents generated around the structures.
