Abstract

When an electrical circuit is enclosed in a metal package large enough to support resonant modes within the frequencies of operation of the enclosed circuit, coupling between the circuit and these resonant cavity modes may disturb circuit operation. These resonant cavity modes can be effectively damped by placing a dielectric substrate coated with a resistive film in the cavity. In this paper a numerical algorithm is used to find the frequencies and quality factors of the lowest order resonant mode of a cavity damped in this manner.
