Abstract

Two heat pump cycles operating with halogenated hydrocarbon mixtures are considered. Each Coefficient of Performance (COP) increases up to 50% under extreme temperature lifts when reciprocating compressors are employed. This is due to a reduction of the pressure ratio by a factor of more than two.
