Abstract

We demonstrate a 980 nm-pumped Er- and the first Er/Yb-doped waveguide laser in Ti:LiNbO3. The devices were fabricated on x-cut LiNbO3, with the guides parallel to the z-axis. This choice of waveguide orientation results in a reduced susceptibility to photorefractive damage, and allows cw room-temperature operation.
