Abstract
The first synchrophasor standard was published in 1995. The standard was revised in 2001, 2005, 2011, and 2014 with evolving performance requirements. In 2012 NIST began assessing the performance of PMUs, both commercially available and pre-production prototypes, and providing data to participating PMU manufacturers free of charge with the understanding that the data would become publically available without identifying the brand names and models of the PMUs being tested.
