Abstract

The 2001 Materials Research Society (MRS) annual meeting took place in Boston Copely Plaza (in the spacious Hynes Convention Center) from November 25-30. The four meeting co-chairs: B.M. Clemens, J.A. Floro, J.A. Kornfield, and Y. Suzuki have organized a successful conference. The multidisciplinary scientific program consisted of thirty-six symposia, six tutorials, evening poster sessions, award presentations, special lectures, and a large scale exhibit. Despite the September 11 tragedy, the meeting was well attended (about 3900 international attendees). This report summarizes the various scientific activities during the meeting.
