Yong Li joined the Biomaterials Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2025. His research focuses on developing high-speed, time-resolved quantum cascade laser infrared (QCL-IR) spectroscopic metrology to investigate reaction kinetics. His work aims to establish reference-free measurement frameworks to understand thickness-dependent reaction pathways in advanced polymer systems.
Before joining NIST, Yong earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine, where he focused on coherent Raman scattering microscopy and vibrational probe design for chemical imaging. His doctoral work included developing and applying nonlinear optical microscopy techniques to study biological systems.
