Yating Zhang (IntlAssoc)

PREP Researcher

Dr. Yating Zhang is a PREP Researcher at NIST and the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research interests include climate change projections and adaptation,  earthquake risk assessment and mitigation, and sustainable buildings and infrastructure.

Her ongoing and past research projects include:

  • Improving Assessment of Environmental Impacts from Buildings
  • Climate Resilience in Engineering Practice
  • A Framework to Evaluate the Cost-Effectiveness of Recovery-Based Design
  • Promoting Earthquake Risk Reduction for Wood-Frame Soft-Story Buildings
  • Complex Event Resilience of Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises: Natural Disaster Planning During the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • Urban Heat Projections and Adaptations in a Changing Climate, Washington DC as a Case Study
  • Life-Cycle Analyses and Performance Assessment for Highways Constructed using Recycled Materials

Yating is currently a member of American Society of Civil Engineers, Structural Engineering Institute, and SEA-MW Sustainable Design Committee. She received her PhD and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
