Michael Braine (Fed)

Michael Braine is a physicist in the Temperature and Humidity Group. He has worked at NIST since 2007. Since 2022, Mr. Braine performs spectroradiometric calibrations of radiance and irradiance, and heat flux, as well as optical temperature measurements, at temperatures above 1000 K. Additional work includes preamp development, building next generation sensors using optical detectors, modeling, measurement automation, and data science using Python. Michael is one of the few at NIST who hold a unique Metrology degree.

Previously, Mr. Braine worked with the Dimensional Metrology Group, performing spherical diameter calibrations both mechanically and interferometrically, laser frequency calibrations, and measuring tapes.
