Maxwell Praniewicz (Fed)

Mechanical Engineer

Maxwell (Max) Praniewicz is a mechanical engineering in the Dimensional Metrology Group, located on NIST’s Gaithersburg campus. He is the co-lead for all dimensional measurement services using NIST’s Moore M48 high accuracy coordinate measuring machines, including Special Tests of Step Gages and Plain Ring Gauges. His research interests lie in the modernization of precision measurement equipment to improve reliability, reduce measurement uncertainty, and decrease measurement time. He also leads a project to integrate modern high accuracy coordinate measurement machines into NIST’s dimensional measurement services.

Prior to joining the Dimensional Metrology Group, Max was a mechanical engineer in the Production Systems Group of the Engineering Laboratory. His postdoctoral work focused on the dimensional qualification of additively manufactured lattice structures using X-Ray Computed Tomography. Max also has expertise in precision manufacturing, manufacturing processes design, measurement process design, machine tool metrology, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
