Julie (she/her) is a postdoctoral researcher in the Polymer Processing group with a background in polymer physics. Her research at NIST looks at the recycling of polyolefin plastics with particular focus on agricultural plastic waste. She earned both her Bachelors and Ph.D. at the University of Michigan in materials science and macromolecular science and engineering. Her Ph.D. work was split between assessing the remediation of microplastic pollution from aqueous solutions using pressure sensitive adhesives and investigating the ionic liquid processing of agricultural biomass for the creation of cellulosic fibers and films. She joined NIST in 2023 as an NRC postdoc.
