Jose A. Torres-Ferrer (Ctr)

NIST Associate

Jose Torres is a long-time laboratory metrology instructor in the NIST Office of Weights and Measures (since 1991). He has over 35 years of experience in weights and measures, having served as a Weights and Measures supervisor for the Department of Consumer Affairs in Puerto Rico and as a metrologist performing calibrations in mass, length, volume, and hydrometers for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. 

He is a regular instructor for OWM's Fundamentals of Metrology, mass metrology, and volume metrology courses, which are provided to state metrologists, industry representatives, and metrology staff from other U.S. federal agencies. He also provides the Fundamentals of Metrology and Mass Metrology courses in both Spanish and English to metrologists from National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) and Designated Institutes (DIs) within the Inter-American Metrology System (SIM).
