Dustin Cook is a research structural engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, specializing in recovery-based design and seismic risk analysis. Dustin is passionate about developing analytical methods and toolsets that enable collaborative research, leveraging big data in civil engineering to expedite discovery, quantifying and communicating confidence through uncertainty, and finding solutions through creative design and innovative manufacturing that promote community well-being and urban sustainability. As a member of the Earthquake Engineering Group, Dr. Cook is working to establish building design approaches for post-earthquake functional recovery, develop data tools to better quantify nonstructural seismic performance and consequences, and identify the overlap between building performance and disaster resilience to support data-informed policy.
