Abstract
An interlaboratory study to develop NIST reference values using NJDEP and USEPA methods to obtain values for the extractable concentrations of metals insludge is described. Industrial waste containing high concentrations of alkali, alkaline earth, ferrous and transition metals was dried, size-reduced andhomogenized. Multiple aliquots of this materal were analyzed in two different government laboratories by several different combinations of extraction andanalysis methodologies. Reference values for the acid-extractable concentrations of more than fifteen metals were derived and will be included in theCertificate of Analysis for SRM 2782, Industrial Sludge to be issued by NIST.
