Abstract

Acetylene decomposition flame propagation was studied as the result of the condensation reaction. The used kinetic models reasonably predict the level of burning velocity of acetylene decomposition flame. Nevertheless the models do not demonstrate pressure dependence of burning velocity observed experimentally in the work of Cummings et al and which could be expectable based on the observation of detonation for pure acetylene . The heat release kinetics represents a two-stage process. First stage corresponds to heat release due to the benzene formation, and second stage of heat release corresponds to soot inception and carbonization processes. It was demonstrated that the burning velocity is sensitive to surface growing rate constant. The use of simplified form of presentation of surface growing process (Lindstedt, 1994) represents positive thermal feedback for flame propagation.
