Abstract
High electron transfer rates to redox proteins were achieved by optimizing metal oxide electrode electronic properties. Doping levels and flat band potential position were controlled through the thermal annealing procedure. Direct and sustaainable reduction of spinach ferredoxin, putidaredoxin and cytochrome C was demonstrated without resorting to electrode surface modification. Band edge model which accounts for the electron transfer rates to redox proteins developed.
