Abstract
Exposure of airway epithelial cells to 100 uM sulfur mustard significantly upregulated induced nitric oxide (iNOS) in cells. This response, quantitated by both flow cytometry and quantum dot-visualized antibodies, is returned to normal iNOS levels if cells are pretreated with FDA-approved macrolide antibiotics roxithromycin, azithromycin, clarithromycin and erythromycin.
