Quantum Information With Neutral Atoms as Qubits

Abstract

Neutral atoms trapped in periodic optical potentials (optical lattices) offer a possible route toward quantum computation. The atoms can be kept well isolated from the environment, yet can be easily manipulated with the tools of atomic physics. This paper will give an overview of the prospects for the implementation of quantum information processing in such systems.
