Fundamental Constants, QED, and the Proton Form Factor

Abstract
Most of the fundamental constants are obtained by the comparison of the results of critical experiments and theoretical expressions for these results. Many of the theoretical expressions are based on quantum electrodynamics (QED), so the consistency of the results provide a precise test of the validity of QED. One aspect of the determination of the constants emphasized here is the role of the form factor or rms charge radius of the proton in the determination of the Rydberg constant.
