Using acoustic-resonance spectroscopy, we measured the three independent Voigt Ckj (C11, C12, C44) of cubic-symmetry galena (lead sulphide). Our results clarify the discrepancies of previous reports. We report also the internal friction Q-1ij, the imaginary part of the Cij, we conclude that galena possesses mainly ionic bonding with some covalent bonding. We report also the Kroner-method quasiisotropic effective elastic stiffnesses and the acoustic Debye characteristic temperature.
