Abstract
Nobel laureate Phil Anderson wrote in Science in 1995 that the glass transition remains the deepest and most important unsolved problem in solid state physics. Why all the mystery surrounding the seemingly simple solidification of a liquid into a disordered solid, or glass -- one of the most ubiquitous forms of matter? Confocal optical microscopy and computer simulations reveal the cooperative nature of motion in glass-forming liquids.Citation
