Abstract

The geometric and surface features of a new NIST reference material, RM 8457 are presented. This reference material is composed of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) in the form of 5 mm cubes. These cubes are intended for use in swelling studies conducted for the purpose of determining the crosslink density of the UHMWPE after it has been subjected to crosslinking processes.
