Abstract

Organic thin films, especially conjugated molecular assemblies, have attracted considerable attention as candidates for electrically-active components in nanoscale electronic devices. Indeed, this field has seen significant progress; single-molecule nanojunctioins, nanopore and soft-contact nanoscale devices have been demonstrated recently. While the device front has seen major advances, the organization of the molecules - central to device performance - remains poorly understood.
