Our group has recently published a report of a combinatorial rheometer/viscometer developed in our lab, based on the princinple of a damped harmonic oscillator. In this paper, we describe a modification of this approach to scale down this viscometer to the microfluidic realm. This microfluidic rheometer will also be based on the damped harmonic oscillator. While this viscometer is currently in development, its ultimate function will be along the lines of a high-throughput instrument and appropriate modifications are described.
