Abstract

The field of optics is summarized to assist in the solution of practical optics problems by working scientists. Over seventy formulas are presented dealing with reflection and refraction, absorption, lenses, mirrors, diffraction, interference, and spectra. Tables cover index of refraction of common materials at various wavelengths, location of images for lenses, location of images for mirrors, important spectral lines, and wavelengths of commonly used lasers. There are 17 original figures.
