Abstract
Simple expressions are derived for the spectrum of low frequency phonon modes perturbed bythe presence of a quantum dot in a solid using the phonon Green's function for the Debye model.The changes in the Helmholtz free energy and the constant volume specific heat at lowtemperatures are calculated. The results are applicable to any nanoinclusion in solids.
