Abstract
This Office of Law Enforcement Standards (OLES) performance standard provides the criteria, requirements, methodology, and procedures for ballistic resistance evaluation of personal body armor, under the jurisdiction of the NIJ Compliance Testing Program (CTP) for body armor. The primary users of the standard are Law Enforcement and Corrections agencies, NIJ certified testing laboratories, body armor and ballistic resistant material manufacturers, and other independent test entities not affiliated with or certified by the NIJ CTP. This standard supersedes NIJ 2005 Interim Requirements, Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor (August 2005), and NIJ Standard-0101.04 Rev. A, Ballistic Resistance of Personal Body Armor (June 2001).
