Abstract

This paper provides an informative discussion of some aspects of the use of n-position area averaging in absolute testing of optical surfaces. The paper may, however, mislead some readers over certain aspects of the proceduresand their application. The purpose of this letter is to offer some clarifications and show how the measurement procedure may be simplified.
