The 100th anniversary of the discovery of superconudctivity by Heike Kamerlingh Onnes was celebrated in 2011 at the Superconductivity Centennial Conference held in The Hague. 100 Years of Superconductivity is a product of that celebration, but it's far from a conference proceeding. Instead, the editors have solicited contributions from 107 authors, who were asked to detail the historical roots and phenomenal growth of the science and technology of superconductivity over its first century. The result is retrospective that chronicles serendipitous discoveries, intellectual triumphs, and technological breakthroughs that Onnes could not have imagined in 1911.
