Abstract

The thermal environment in turbulent flames is studied by large eddy simulation and finite volume method for radiation transport. The spectral dependence of the local absorption coefficient is solved using a simple wide band model. The predicted heat fluxes from methane flames and methanol pool burning rates are compared with measurements.
