Abstract
Research at the National Bureau of Standards (now the National Institute of Standards and Technology or NIST) involving the gas atomization of liquid metals has resuletd in approximately 300 experiments since 1983. The data generated from these experiments, including process parameter measurements and associated powder size distributions, have remained largely published. A subset of this data, which includes aluminum, copper, iron and nickel-based alloys, is presented here to augment the data already in the literature and thereby expand the resources available for evaluating current and future empirical predictive models described in the literature, including some developed for fuel sprays.
