Abstract

This constitutes the front matter (preface and introductory chapter) to the book, "Spectrophotometry: Accurate Measurements of the Optical Properties of Materials," The introduction presents a short history of spectrophotometry. A very brief description of the principles of uncertainty analysis is given. Finally, an overview of the rest of the book is given.
