Abstract
The Illicit Trafficking Radiation Assessment Program (ITRAP+10) is an international effort of the Department of Homeland Securitys Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DHS/DNDO), the European Commissions Joint Research Center (EC-JRC), and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to evaluate commercial radiation detectors against published consensus standards. Though data was assessed against requirements of the American National Standards Institute/Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (ANSI/IEEE) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the passing or failing criteria described in the standards was not applied to the instruments response. Instead, the assessments aim to characterize the instrument performance to facilitate industry improvements and to impart realistic expectations of the equipment to users.
