The SRM's are typically sold in sets of 5 specimens, stamped NIST on one end. A lot number and serial number is stamped on the other end.
A "Questionnaire for Charpy Impact Verification" is included with the verification specimens. The questionnaire provides information to help customers perform a successful verification test. It also requests mailing information for the company, provides measurement information on critical machine parts, test temperature, and test procedure. Only the test results are required for verification. However, the questionnaire is designed to include information that will help the coordinator troubleshoot the machine and procedure in case of failure. In order to perform a complete evaluation of the test, the fractured specimens must be returned with the completed questionnaire.
