Sumona Sarkar Receives 2026 ANSI Next Generation Award
Sumona Sarkar received the 2026 ANSI Next Generation Award in recognition of her leadership and contributions to standards development for biotechnology in ISO TC 276.
The ANSI Next Generation Award is presented to professionals who have been engaged in standardization or conformity assessment activities for fewer than eight years and who have demonstrated vision, leadership, and dedication, and made significant contributions to their chosen field.

Sumona Sarkar of the NIST Material Measurement Laboratory was nominated for this award by colleagues in recognition of her leadership and contributions to standards development for biotechnology in ISO TC 276. Dr. Sarkar is convener of ISO TC 276 SC 1 WG 2 Cell Characterization and has led the development of ISO standards in cell counting, cell viability, and cell characterization. She has also supported strategic planning within ISO TC 276 and coordination with other standards development efforts in biotechnology. Awardees will be honored at the ANSI Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony, held during the 2026 ANSI Innovation Summit on July 29, 2026.
